Mega Mall 2016

The Mega Mall was a 21 year old indoor market that occupied a large stretch of property along Milwaukee Avenue in the heart of the Logan Square neighborhood. The Mall was set to be demolished in 2016 to make way for a new rental development however prior to that, about two dozen of Chicago's top street artists spent two days painting the exterior as a fond farewell to the building. Just as I arrived to the Mall, I caught one of the most touching moments...a little girl ran up to the building and gave it a hug. To me, this is the epitome of what the mall meant to the long time residents of Logan Square. The Mall has since been demolished however I captured these images last June prior to destruction. I love how these artists came together to pay tribute to the building.
